Mala beads are powerful tools that help one to find and maintain focus during meditation. Using mala beads in a meditation practice acts as an anchor for the present moment. Counting mala beads is common to many traditions like Buddhism and Hinduism, to name a few. They are traditionally used for a specific type of meditation, the Japamala, which combines the counting of beads with the recitation of a particular mantra known as a “Japa”, or other sacred sounds.
